In order for Co-operative Education to keep pace with a very competitive and changing market place and fulfill the strategic direction of Georgian College, it is important the department look at new practices to deal quickly and effectively with:
Changes in technology
- Diversity of students and programs
- New programs
- Competition from other colleges and universities
- Employer development and relationships
- Students who have had limited or no work experience
- Impact of economic conditions
Co-operative Education is a process, which up front seems relatively simple, however, is surprisingly complex due to the wide variety of conflicting needs and wants between our two major stakeholders: students and employers. It is evident that we can no longer be all things to all people. Co-op Consultants have been working diligently to manage it all.
Over the coming year the co-op team is looking forward to the support from the college community to ensure a successful transition of the new structure as we continue to meet the ongoing demands of our students, employers and programs.
We thank you for your support as we move ahead.
