Start Dates

The start dates for post-secondary programs are generally at the beginning of September. Depending on the program, you may be able to start at the beginning of January. Some of these programs include Business, Computer and Tourism programs.

The ESL program starts every seven weeks. See schedule.

The EAP or English for Academic Purposes is a 14-week program starting January, September and May of each year.

Co-operative Education (Work Experience With Pay)

A co-op is a paid practical work placement. This means that you work for a company in your field of study for a semester each year. The International Centre assists you in obtaining an Employment Authorization visa for you co-op placement. Currently, there are over 25 co-operative education programs.

How To Apply To Post Secondary Programs At Georgian College

Complete the application form and send it to the International Centre with your original high school transcripts and pre-requisites for the program (as outlined on our website and in our calendar).

English Language Proficiency

For direct entry into post-secondary programs you must provide a TOEFL or IELTS test score.

Students whose first language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Applicants must obtain a score of 550 and a minimum of 50 points in each area. In correspondence with TOEFL, please quote the Georgian TOEFL code: 9740.

IELTS academic test results are also acceptable. A band 6.5 overall is required with at least 6.0 in each section.

How To Apply To Esl (English as a Second Language) Classes At Georgian College

You can apply on-line by direct submission.

There is no application fee and you can apply at anytime.

Housing - Where Will I Live?

Georgian College's International Centre arranges housing for you. This is a free service.

Students may choose to live in private homes through Homestay program or in the dormitory/residence.

Airport - How Will I Get To Barrie From The Airport?

A staff member of Georgian College International Centre meets you at the airport and brings you to your housing. This is a free service. Pick-up contact is Lily Li homestayprogram@georgianc.on.ca.

Students need to download, complete and e-mail an Airport Pickup Request form to Homestay Program at homestayprogram@georgianc.on.ca in order for us to meet you at the airport. You can submit this information directly to us from this website.

What Are The Tuition Fees?

Full tuition fees must be paid by the first day of the semester start. The current tuition fee for Post Secondary programs is $9,215.00 CAD. In addition, there are other compulsory fees and fees for Cooperative programs.

Tuition fees for Post Graduate are as follows:

  • 2 semester programs: $10,000 CAD. per year
  • 3 semester programs: $12,000 CAD. per year

Deposit And Tuition - When And How Do I Pay?

There is a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 Canadian dollars for post-secondary and post-graduate programs.
There is a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 for ESL programs.

This deposit represents a portion of your tuition. This deposit must be paid to reserve a place for you in the program. If this deposit is not received, we can not guarantee a place in the program.

Please refer to the invoice that was sent with your acceptance letter for dates of payment.

Health Insurance

Yes, you need health insurance. The fee for insurance is INCLUDED in the tuition fee for all programs including ESL and EAP. The cost is about $550.00 Canadian for one year and is included in the post-secondary tuition fee. If you have a health insurance policy please show us the policy when you arrive and we will refund this fee.

Student Visa Information

Students studying in Canada for more than 6 months require a Student Permit.

It is very important to submit ALL of the documentation requested and apply for the visa at least 3 months before your program of study begins.
