Free Access to Apprenticeship program at Georgian College

Georgian recently received funding to offer the Access to Apprenticeship program through the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

The College started running the program early in June at the Barrie Campus with the support of the Simcoe County District School Board and CONTACT-South Simcoe Community Information Centre, a non-profit charity organization that provides community-focused services to residents of South Simcoe. The program is part of the Ministry’s Workplace and Community Literacy program. Read the whole story »

Georgian College was named one of 2010 Canada’s Greenest Employers in the Globe and Mail (April 22). Canada’s Greenest Employers are selected each year by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, a division of Toronto-based Mediacorp Canada Inc.

During the last week of class, second-year students in the Police Foundations program at the Owen Sound Campus took part in field training with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Emergency Response Team.

Weber Foundation donates $500,000 to Centre for Health and Wellness

A $500,000 donation to Georgian College’s Centre for Health and Wellness from the Midland-based Weber Foundation was announced April 22 at Donor Meritorious, the inaugural dinner held by the College to honour major benefactors.
The Centre for Health and Wellness is currently under construction at the Barrie Campus and is set to open in September 2011.
